How exercise helps with mental health

When people think of the benefits of exercise they almost always go immediately to the physical benefits, but there are plenty of mental benefits to exercise also that many may not be aware of. Exercise has been proven to have the brain release chemicals such as endorphins and serotonin which are often called “feel good” chemicals which will improve your mood. Regular exercise can also help reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Exercise also helps improve your sleep which has been proven to improve your mood, increase focus and concentration. Working out regularly has also been proven to help your physical health which inturn improves your mental health as well. If you are under a lot of stress from either work or personal life, exercise is great with helping to relieve that because the workouts you do relax the muscles, release tension from the body and can be a great way of getting your mind off of the stressors for however long you are working out for. Working out can also be a great way to interact with people and meet new friends which has been proven to reduce the effects of depression and anxiety.
