5 Kettlebell and 5 Medicine Ball Workouts

Kettlebell and medicine ball workouts have become extremely popular recently due to their relative cheapness compared to other workout equipment, because they take up a minimal amount of space making them ideal for any size home gym, and finally because they are easy to use and can deliver a number of very effective workouts.

Kettlebell workouts

  • The Goblet squat. Starting off with maybe the most popular kettlebell workout but it’s a classic for a reason. The goblet squat works out your quads, calves, glutes, core and arms meaning that with one exercise you can workout almost your entire body with just a few sets.
  • Farmer’s walk. Don’t be fooled, this workout isn’t just a walk in the field. After a couple sets of this workout your entire body will be feeling the burn, because this works out your quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, upper back, the entire upper body and core, and if that isn’t enough it can also provide an excellent cardio workout if you pick up the pace or do longer distances.
  • The Swing. A great exercise that combines cardio with a thorough glute, hamstring, shoulder and arm workout. A few sets of these will have your heart rate up and your arms burning in the best way possible.
  • The Press. One of the best exercises for a complete upper body workout. This exercise not only workouts the entire upper body and core but it also enhances the stability of the core and shoulder muscles reducing the risk of future injury.
  • The Clean. Possibly the most complete body workout of them all. This exercise  should be done after you can comfortably do the others. This exercise not only trains on explosive movement, but also works your core, quads, glutes, hamstrings, lower back muscles and the upper body

Medicine Balls

  • Russian Twist. One of the best core workouts out there. Just a few sets of this and your core will be burning in a way that proves why this is one of the most effective exercises out there.
  • The Throw. A great exercise if you want to workout the entire body. This exercise also is great for helping train your explosive movement in the upper body.
  • Mountain Climber. A brutal yet amazingly effective workout. This single exercise works out your back, chest, shoulder, core and also is a great way to combine cardio and strength training.
  • Lateral Lunge. Another exercise that can deliver a good cardio workout while also working out your hip, shoulder and upper chest.
  • Superman. Last but certainly not least, this exercise is great for working out your lower and upper back, shoulders, glutes, hamstrings and the core.
